View Full Version : DG-1000 Tail Battery Connector. Where to get one?

The tail battery in the DG-1000 (and probably the 500/505) use a funky
connector that's a bit smaller than a cigarette lighter plug. It snaps
in place and holds on tight.

Here are a few pics:

Does anyone know what this plug is called and/or where I can buy one (or
more) without traveling to Germany?

I'm assuming this is some sort of semi-standard German or European
connector, not something designed just for the folks at DG.

The few electrically minded folks I know haven't been able to identify
it. Anyone know?

Thanks,

Jeremy

Jeremy,

It is called a "powerlet" connector. Same as used on BMW motorcycles.
Don't know where you are in the world, but search for Powerlet on the
web and you will find something. Try www.powerletproducts.com
<http://www.powerletproducts.com/> .

Excellent, thanks for identifying it. :-)

I'm in California where various BMW stuff is pretty popular, so I
shouldn't have any trouble finding one.

BMW motorcycle dealers have them, but that's probably the most expensive
source. John Deere tractor supply places sometimes stock them as well,
though on-line is the least expensive source and will have the best
selection.

These plugs are made by Bosch and are also used on Stemme motorgliders. They
are more reliable than the "standard" US cigarette lighter style plug/jack
and more compact too.

Put a few dimensions to the metal conducter parts,
it looks like a rotating beacon plug and lead for a farm tractor the =
larger brass part would be about 12mm diam
and cetre about 4.5mm I think they are made by Hiller .

Ken.

Yeah, I got 'em at a local BWM bike shop. Not cheap, but not terribly
expensive. They had pre-made cables and "bare" connectors.
